2015 Place

2015 San Pedro Ave., San Antonio, Texas; Tel. 210.733.3365
Inside of a white little cottage it's hard to imagine there are hairy, leather-wearing, shirtless men swigging beers and taking shots. But, the San Antonio converted house known as 2015 Place has all of the above inside its walls. The gay bar seems small from the outside but manages to fit pinball machines, pool tables, darts and a dance floor. When there's no DJ for dancing, karaoke takes over the small stage and dance floor area. Being that it looks like a house, 2015 Place feels like home for many with the friendly service and nice atmosphere.

Annex

330 San Pedro Ave., San Antonio, Texas; Tel. 210.223.6957
One of the only times ladies dare to venture into the Annex is when it's happy hour, other than that it's mostly men in leather and bears in this gay bar. Just outside of downtown San Antonio, Annex is a proud supporter of several clubs like the Alamo Bear Club, Gay Darts League of San Antonio and a member of the Texas Gay Rodeo Association. The cruise bar has pool tournaments and dart tournaments as well as other special events throughout the week. Mostly older men frequent the bar where the jukebox plays country, dance and rock music. Don't expect the typical flamboyant San Antonio gay bar, because it can't be found at Annex.

Bermuda Triangle

119 El Mio, San Antonio, Texas; Tel. 210.342.2276
With plenty of space to dance or just hang around, Bermuda Triangle is dominated by the local San Antonio lesbian scene. The ladies certainly know how to have a good time especially on weekends when the bar can get crowded with dancers and drinkers. Bartenders serve up stiff drinks from the bar to keep everyone happy. Bermuda Triangle isn't the typical gay bar in San Antonio, though; it's more of a comfortable dive bar that just happens to be speckled with the ladies who like the same.

Heat

1500 N. Main Ave., San Antonio, Texas; Tel. 210.227.2600
Don't judge a book by its cover or Heat by the outside of its building. Inside of the San Antonio gay bar there is an enormous dance area and four indoor bars. An outside patio allows smokers and those who need a break to enjoy the San Antonio nights. Directly across from San Antonio College, Heat is on Main Street where there are several bars catering to the San Antonio gay community. This is the bar where most end up judging by the crowds that collect on weekends with the house and techno music thumping away. Several times a week there are drag shows where the audience will see some of the prettiest drag queens in all of San Antonio. After a gay bar crawl around San Antonio, Heat is always a good place to end up.

Pegasus

1402 N. Main Ave., San Antonio, Texas; Tel. 210.299.4222
Forget those over-the-top, sweaty, gay dance clubs. This San Antonio establishment puts the gay in Pegasus with plenty of swank. Pegasus still has plenty of room for dancing at the main bar with regular club dance music and this hip San Antonio gay club also offers other rooms for different entertainment. The Flying Horse—how very classic Texas of them—is more of a country area for all the cowboys. For the boys who want to don their leather chaps, The Hawk is the place for them and doubles as a leather shop. What many head to the San Antonio gay bar for is the tropical themed patio out back that offers karaoke every night. The good and the bad—not the ugly—take it upon themselves to entertain the outdoor area with their vocal stylings. It's a good thing the Pegasus is so laid back, otherwise instead of laughing along with some singers they'd be throwing him off stage.

Petticoat Junction

1818 N. Main Ave., San Antonio, Texas; Tel. 210.737.2344
Across from the San Antonio College campus, Petticoat Junction is a notoriously chic lesbian bar hangout. Dartboard, pool tables and nudie-girl playing cards may give the appearance of a typical male club, but in fact it's quite the opposite. Several dance floors allow plenty of space to get to the bar then head to the floor. Lesbian and transgendered folks are all accepted at the club and on Tuesday nights Petticoat Junction even hosts the Gay Dart League. Drink specials are offered several nights a week and Fridays get crazy when a weekly drag show is put on at this San Antonio gay club. Every night at the Saint is a party with "showgirls" hosting the show. The San Antonio gay bar has drink specials and jello shots every night for super low prices which ends up making the night that much more fun. Most people prefer to roam the club and dance instead of sitting at a bar stool, a good thing for those that need to make their way to the bar for a drink. When there isn't a drag show on at this San Antonio gay bar, sexy men in Speedos do a little dance on the stage for everyone's viewing pleasure.
