The Bellfuries

Since 1998 Austin, Texas' The Bellfuries have been enthralling audiences with a haunting sound that is somehow both nostalgic, and refreshingly innovative. Joey Simeone fronts the band with captivatingly soulful vocal harmonies and clever, sometimes deceptively playful songwriting. The rest of the band comprises of Mike Molnar (formerly with Ronnie Dawson) on lead guitar, Bobby Trimble (formerly with Big Sandy & The Fly-Rite Boys) on drums, and Shecky Seaver on upright bass. Together, this incomparable quartet has earned the adoration of roots music fans worldwide, contemporaries such as Big Sandy, Deke Dickerson, and JD McPherson (who covered a Bellfuries original on Signs & Signifiers) , and anyone else within ear shot of their alluring untainted melodies. Imagine sending Roy Orbison, Lefty Frizzell, The Beatles, and Sam Cooke into the ring and letting 'em scrap it out for a few rounds. Emerging from that carnage is the mesmerizing sounds of the Bellfuries... or pretty dam close anyway. It's been over 10 years since Portland fans have been treated to those sounds, I think we're ready!
